Land street artist Saype’s “Beyond Walls” series has reached its ninth stop and this time the chosen destination is Cape Town in South Africa.

I therefore hope that my artworks may be a modest contribution to reconcile humans at the heart of a city still healing it’s wounds.

A few months ago he had also passed through Italy, precisely Turin, we had interviewed him here. But this time the Franco-Swiss artist has chosen the South African capital, which has an urgent need for reunification, as also emphasized by his work.

Differently from the previous works, in South Africa he realized three of them representing very different populations and realities. Precisely in Sea Point (6000 square meters), in Philippi township (800 square meters) and in Langa township (800 square meters).

The gigantic hands, painted in three differents places of the city, symbolize the reconciling will of Neslon Mandela by linking, beyond social and economic inequalities, the three districts of Sea Point, Philippi and Langa.

The project started in 2019 from Paris and aims to create the largest symbolic human chain in the world. As always, the artist, as in all his works, used only eco-friendly colors base of charcoal, chalk, water.

A project that was already very impressive in itself, important and profound, but now with the current situation it becomes even more important, with the hope of remaining united in the face of all difficulties, from one continent to another.
