Bodega turns 15 and celebrates with Carhartt WIP

Andrea Tuzio

Founded in 2006, Bodega is more than just a store. With its two stores in Boston and Los Angeles, for 15 years it has represented a refuge and a tool for a group, which defines itself as “clandestine”, of artists who through ideas and the realization of their creative efforts explore the intersections and points of contact that exist between fashion, counterculture, community and art.
This year Bodega turns 15 and has decided to celebrate with one of the brands that best represents this journey as well as the store’s historical partner, Carhartt WIP.

“If there’s anything that’s gone into Bodega’s 15-year journey, it’s a daily grind”.

Carhartt in fact is the brand that – especially in the United States – is associated with the world of hard work, the one where you get your hands dirty and work hard for real. But at the same time – and this is also very evident here in Europe thanks to Carhartt WIP – it’s one of the most loved brands by streetwear fans, skateboarders, etc.

“It’s a brand that has always chosen its own path rather than following others”.

For this Fall/Winter 2021, Bodega and Carhartt WIP have created a collaborative capsule collection that draws inspiration from the Bodega store in Los Angeles – a converted former fruit market hidden in plain sight in the middle of Down Town LA’s manufacturing district.

“…we didn’t put our heads down and let important things slip through our fingers. The communities in which we are rooted are our lifeblood”.

The collection – which includes the OG Chore Coat, Double Knee Ruck Pant and Quilted Vest, as well as essentials like t-shirts, caps and beanies – is accompanied by an editorial directed, produced and shot by LA based photographer and director Angella Choe

The protagonists chosen for the campaign are the folks at Reyna Fruits, a small multi-generational family-owned hawker right in front of Bodega, which exemplifies the concept and spirit of hard work and care that is needed in the community and often goes unnoticed.

The Bodega x Carhartt WIP 15th Anniversary capsule collection is available starting today, December 10, on Bodega’s website and in stores in Boston and Los Angeles.
