Reviving a new life in a castle is always a challenge: it is the case of the one accepted and brilliantly surpassed by Mesura studio in the Spanish city of Peratallada, in Catalonia. The building was transformed at the behest of its owners into a residential complex, consisting of several buildings that share a common courtyard, now including a garden, a terrace and a swimming pool. The city of Peratallada takes its name from “pedra tallada”, which means carved stone, and the castle is considered the landmark of the place.

The intervention did not violate the original identity of the structure, but made it contemporary and harmonious, changing the key to visual reading. Restyling has a fresh design that uses resources offered by the place like the Turkish stone, which has been cut in a creative way to highlight the elegant geometries. The centenarian acacia tree helps to give that picturesque touch to the scene presented to the demanding eye of the visitor, who will surely not be disappointed.
