How many times have we been afraid of the dark and at the same time felt attracted by the unknown, by the blackness that could conceal everything? How many other times, instead, have we gone in search of a beam of light able to illuminate the room?
Discovering Chiara Vitellozzi‘s photography is a bit like when suddenly the light goes out and in total darkness, lost, we touch something we recognise. 

Born in 1983, Chiara Vitellozzi was born in Massa, where she lived until she started university, when she moved to Florence to study architecture. It was during these years that she discovered her passion for shapes and materials, which then led her to fall in love with the relationship between light and shadow. 

“I’ve always seen everything this way:
it’s either light or dark.”

These are the elements that we also find in her shots, often in black and white, where light and dark alternate, playing with the elements placed in front of the lens. A body, the sky, the sea, everything that Chiara Vitellozzi photographs fascinates and terrifies us at the same time, giving rise to contrasting emotions that make us want to keep our eyes glued to it.
