Cj Hendry Has Opened a Flower Shop in New York

We’ve written about Cj Hendry many times, covering her immersive projects and her knack for turning seemingly simple ideas into total experiences. Now the Australian artist is back with a gesture as concrete as it is simple: on November 10 she opened Flower Shop, her first permanent store, at 172 Prince Street in the heart of SoHo, New York.

After the viral success of her Flower Market in 2024 and 2025—pop-up installations where visitors could immerse themselves in flower markets made entirely of plush—Hendry decided to answer the question she heard most from her audience: “Where can we buy them?” Flower Shop was born as a space where art can be experienced and purchased every day, without the fleetingness of temporary shows.

In her new store, Hendry offers an ironic yet affectionate reflection on the ephemeral beauty of flowers. Instead of bouquets that wilt in a few days, she proposes plush flowers—enduring and collectible. Each piece is soft, colorful, and irresistibly pop, but behind the irony lies a serious thought: overturning the act of gifting to make it lasting, almost eternal.

“Flowers are universal,” the artist says. “You give them to celebrate, to apologize, to say something you can’t put into words. But the sad part is they last so little. Flower Shop flips that: my flowers never die, they’re fun, a bit irreverent, and—hopefully—the most delightful gift you can give.”

Open seven days a week, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Flower Shop is the perfect place for anyone seeking an offbeat idea—especially with the holidays approaching. Each flower costs $10 and never wilts: an ironic alternative to last-minute scrambles and bouquets that give up after a weekend.

With this opening, Cj Hendry ushers in a new phase of her career, taking her art beyond the limits of the ephemeral and transforming it. And we can’t wait to see what this new chapter in her artistic journey becomes.
