We had already talked about Costas Spathis (1984, Greece) and his photographs of areas. Today we return to talk about him and his latest series dedicated to architecture, which has been all the rage on the web. Like most of his projects, Spathis uses artificial intelligence to create images that are close to reality, but at the same time too good to be true. His training as an architect and his vocation as a photographer find their perfect union in these works. The influence of his architectural background is indeed evident in every photograph he takes or image he creates. Costas Spathis approaches photography with an architect’s eye, looking for the patterns, axes of symmetry and vanishing points that give structure to the world. This approach results in images that are both graphic and minimalist, with a clarity and precision that speak of his training as a designer. In short, Spathis’ architectures do not exist, but draw from reality to create a different one, a little fictionalised perhaps, but certainly capable of making us dream a little more.
