In Hong Kong, there’s a new playground

- Contributors

The duo Craig & Karl has designed a colorful playground in Hong Kong with a distinct style for the Design District HK. Let’s see what it’s all about and who the two artists involved are. Separated by an ocean, Craig and Karl work in tandem every day to create their artworks characterized by simple and direct messages, juxtaposed with humor and fun. From installations to illustrations, they have collaborated with numerous prestigious institutions over the years. From the Musée de la Publicité in Paris to the Museum of the Moving Image in New York.

They have also had many collaborations, ranging from LMVH to The New York Times, and including Nike, Apple, and Vogue. However, the one in Hong Kong is not the duo’s first large-scale installation. A few months ago, they embarked on the construction of a mini-golf course near Canary Wharf in London. In the Chinese metropolis, on the other hand, the concept of a fun space has developed on a large scale as part of the Design District in Hong Kong. Carousels, structures, and colorful children’s games all fully reflect the style of Craig & Karl.

It’s a recognizable style that takes us to an almost utopian, childlike dimension. The playground seems immersed in the atmosphere of a real video game, adapting to its location at Sai Lau Kok Garden in Tsuen Wan, next to the Tsuen Wan MTR station.
