Creators – The Italian collective HPO
In this column we present the under 40 realities that work between art, architecture and design, from studios, through collectives, to individual realities.
For this second appointment, we are pleased to introduce you to the HPO, a new collective born in 2017. HPO took shape around the Architecture Faculty of Ferrara, as a reaction to a condition of boredom after days of Brazilian samba and Swiss precision.
They started organizing lectures, events and workshops as students and suddenly it became the opportunity to understand the architect’s position “reducing the distance between what we are taught architecture is and what architecture can actually be – they say – this experience led us to the idea that making is better than rendering, creating our own opportunity to actively take part in the architectural scene. HPO is an experiment aiming to cross the line between an architectural practice and a cleaning agency.” A real interdisciplinary experience.
Supercinema is one of their latest works. They transformed Piazza Gobetti in an open cinema. Here there was the first multiplex in Ferrara named Apollo, a place of celebration and aggregation and HPO realized an installation made by two construction fences assembled with a polycarbonate screen and a projector support form a simple device, a segment repeated ten times along the longitudinal axis of the square. Ten different stories through audiovisual material produced by the “ilturco” cultural association.
