Daniele Sigalot‘s ones on the surface appear like paper sculptures, delicate and unstable. The balls or mandalas on the wall look like origami made by giants, with a plasticity that plays on monochrome and the contact of light with curved surfaces. This artistic vision will be the focus of the artist’s next exhibition, Out of Place, which will open on Oct. 1 at the WEM Gallery in Ornavasso (VB), a 1,000-square-meter gallery that will open its doors precisely with Daniele Sigalot’s show.
What appear as paper sculptures are actually made by Sigalot in metal, for a contrast that shows all the limits of our perception. In addition to the theme of error, there will be in the exhibition precisely an open discourse on the ambiguity of perception, a challenge to the human ability to understand reality.
Out of Place will be the exhibition of a mature artist, 16 years after the first exhibition in 2006, a conceptual exhibition of which to appreciate the quest to connect viewer and works, with the latter reading the visitors’ limits by showing them two new realities, one real and one apparent.
