Artist Oliver Jeffers spent six years creating The Dipped Painting Project, an elaborate and multifaceted exploration of the concept of the time’s effect on our memory. The work is ambitious: the intention is to make a short film where the subjects of the works that have had close encounters with death, are interviewed to tell their experiences in detail.

These interviews are used for the composition of the individual painting and, subsequently, are transcribed on a sheet of paper used by Oliver to absorb the excess paint drops, which becomes a work related to the main painting. The project has the intent to capture the creation tension, in fact, only a few lucky can know what was behind the canvas before being immersed in color; in the end, a painting exists only in the memory of these witnesses.
