Unspoiled, Unexplored, Unbelievable is the payoff defined by the tourist agency of the Faroe Islands… for me, a tourist destined to back home, I add Unforgettable.
Booked only flight and car, in mid-march I was ready with my camera and an 8kg backpack to immerse myself for 7 days in a place as magical as lost.
Every day was the same in terms of timing but completely unexpected in terms of content: the alarm at 7 am, breakfast with the guest family, packed lunch prepared by the housewife and ready to drive looking for spots found on Instagram or letting yourself be transported to inspiring places found along the way. Hours and hours of happy loneliness between hiking unmarked paths, photos with easel and self-timer, a changing weather from sun to snow with a single constant, the wind. Towards evening, based on the position in which I was, I looked for a new guesthouse with the certainty of finding another welcoming family in a beautiful house with a heated floor and a hot tea waiting for me.
For me, discovering the islands was like rediscovering myself, finding again that passion and desire that the city compress, living with few things without distractions, coming into contact with pure people, who rest life with simple and essential elements.
