Ragusa, Italy
When:
10 SEPT - 16 SEPT

Again this year is about to begin FestiWall, the international festival of public art that from September 10th to 16th will transform Ragusa into a large open-air canvas.

This year the part of the city selected is the northern, industrial, densely populated area, but without socialization points and the spaces of the Lanificio, an ex-former textile factory, will be used as the headquarters of the event.

The program includes the realization of 6 murals by as many international artists, who for this edition are Hense, Mohamed L’Ghacham, Alexey Luka, Telmo Miel, Pastel, Dimitris Taxis. The six street artists, strongly linked to the factory site as a symbol of the possibility of work will create works related to current themes, characterized by hyperrealism, figuration, abstraction, and references to the art of the ‘900 that will be added to the 16 walls of the past editions.

The Lanificio will host the four site-specific exhibitions of Clemens Behr, who will make an installation with the materials found inside the building, Alex FaKso with an exhibition of unpublished photographic works, Luca Font with an augmented reality project and finally the two architects Giuseppe Gurrieri and Nunzio Gabriele Sciveres, who conducted a study on the recovery of the Lanificio industrial archeology area.

In addition, the headquarters will host all the other events on the agenda: two workshops, one with Luca Barcellona, one of the best-known calligrapher in Italy and Europe, and the other of linocut with Elena Campa; the screening of StudioCromie‘s documentary FAME; talks, concerts, and DJ sets.

“The choice to intervene in a geographically defined area within the city but still without its own identity, comes from the festival’s need to continue its dialogue with the urban fabric using the walls and the art as a social and urban connector, and to take a first step imagining a new evolution of the city.”

FestiWall is a unique project that every year manages to turn Ragusa into a destination for Street Art lovers.
