«Let’s take space» is what the two designers of Finemateria Studio, Gianluca Sigismondi and Stefano Bassan, want to tell us with their new installation at Ditroit Dream in Milan, making themselves the bearers of a collective voice, that of the new generation of creatives. Not only functional design then, but also a reflection on contemporaneity. Gianluca and Stefano we had already met in their studio at Dopo Space, for one of our IN STUDIO episodes, and we had talked about their research but also about how to build a strong identity, acting as a mini-brand. With this installation, presented today, 10 September, in Viale Abruzzi 28, Finemateria takes a more decisive step into the social field to speak specifically about the critical situation of life in Milan.

Prendere Spazio (Take Space) is literally a chair of enormous dimensions, completely out of scale, placed inside an exhibition space, thus personifying «the need for greater breath and industriousness, while the surrounding room materialises the constraint, the stasis», the two designers explain.

«The work takes a critical look at the social situation of life in Milan, highlighting a greater need for operating space on the part of young people. A thought that wants to underline the rare emotional stability, the rigidity of mechanisms and the professional tension settled in the city,» reads the event manifesto signed by Finemateria. «The project is a reminder for the city to always intensify dialogue and collective research to mark a more suitable, natural and healthy direction.»

The chair in Prendere Spazio is a studio piece, Please Hold Up, here made entirely from polyurethane foam scraps, constructed directly within the Ditroit Dream space. In short, a premise that undoubtedly makes us very curious to see the installation, visible until 30 September.
