We have often talked about photographers who capture the charm of the city of Naples. Francesco Freddo also offers us his point of view with Sguardo Napoli – a project born from the need to depict Naples not through standard conventions or the usual panoramas, but through the people who live there. «It’s my intimate gaze on the hidden souls of the city, those you encounter in the alleys, among the markets, or in the shadow of historic buildings. Every face tells a story, every shot captures a fragment of authentic life,» Freddo tells us.

In every shot of this project, there is a desire to search for a connection, a silent dialogue between the photographer and the subjects, who are engaged in sharing their dreams, struggles, and hopes. «Every shot is a small story, a page from a book narrating real life, the kind that often escapes distracted eyes, especially today in a Naples full of people,» continues Francesco Freddo.

The goal of this project is to pay tribute to those who live in Naples every day, «to those who make it real with their very existence,» the photographer concludes. The details, colors, and the stories we imagine – seen in Freddo’s shots – invite us to look deeper, to discover the nuances of one of the most vibrant humanities.
