If lines contain a body, defining its structure and form, are they the limit outside of which the individual cannot exist? For Giulia Lineette (1991), the body is something that can be prolonged. Her art explores the concepts of body and limit in a broad sense, going beyond the standardised and usual definition. Her bodies are made of soft, curved lines that conceive propagation as a perpetual wave that breaks ashore to return and start again. Soft clouds that can change shape while maintaining the same essence. Here, in Giulia Lineette’s art, everything is contemplated. The limit is dissected, confronted and shared. First with ambiguous aesthetics then with unveiling phrases capable of speaking to the fragility of the individual who here rediscovers collectivity, belonging, relief.

If the standard requires only and exclusively ‘A’, Giulia Lineette writes the whole alphabet, addressing issues that are uncomfortable and annoying for most, provoking and caressing the viewer. Themes that are often – and sadly still – taboo are tackled in different layers, from sex to psychology, from insecurities to unspoken perversions. The sense of shame, which is first of all lacking in the artist, generates a domino effect in the eyes of the viewer and, like a sort of butterfly effect, spreads a desire to reconnect with the self. Giulia Lineette succeeds in descostructing the emotional comfort zone starting from the body and its intrinsic limits, to unconsciously construct a new, collective and decidedly softer one.
