The latest spectacular project by design and architecture studio MVRDV is called “Glass Mural” and is located in Detroit.

MVRDV’s project is a 3,716 m2 building divided into three blocks with a beautiful terrace where you can admire the city skyline.
But the peculiarity of “Glass Mural” is that the stack of moving blocks becomes a real canvas that will host the works of the most promising street artists in Detroit.

The first block of the building has been taken care of by DENIAL, while the second one has been commissioned to Sheefy McFly. In order to print the artists’ artwork on the facades of the building, digital printing techniques were used on ceramics. A technique already used in the past by MVRDV, Glass Farm 2013, where an image of a typical Dutch farm was enlarged and printed on the outside of a glass building in the heart of the village of Schijndel in the Netherlands.

Unlike the other glass facades, the third block will feature a “flat facade finish” to create a canvas that will always be changeable.

A spectacular project that manages to blend street art and architecture and represents a real springboard for all the emerging artists in Detroit.
