From the groove of FestiWall, the public art festival that has animated the city of Ragusa for five editions comes Bitume industrial platforms of arts, a site-specific project entirely realized in the former Antonino Ancione bitumen factory, a fundamental site for the productive past of the Sicilian city.

Bitume aims to shift the focus from the urban environment to the industrial context, retracing two hundred years of history among the abandoned industrial warehouses and containers.
The narrators of this long story are some of the most important exponents of the international scene of contemporary muralism, authors of more than 30 works of art including murals and installations.

The first part of the project, in full compliance with the health protocols dictated by the current health emergency, is taking place behind closed doors to allow artists to move freely between the spaces of the former factory, while from mid-October it will be open to the public.

Inside the perimeter of the factory, artists such as the Italian duo Sten and Lex, Australian Guido van Helten, Italian calligrapher Luca Barcellona, Polish M-City and Spanish Sebas Velasco, the Greeks Simek and Dimitris Taxis, the Muscovite Alexey Luka, the Italian Martina Merlini, Moneyless and Never 2501, the Argentinean Francisco Bosoletti, the Madrilenian Ampparito, the Germans Case Maclaim, and SatOne, the Sicilian Ligama and the photographer Alex Fakso have already completed their works.

The project, realized thanks to the support of the Ars – Sicilian Regional Assembly, the Municipality of Ragusa, the Federico II Foundation of Palermo, the Faculty of Geology of the University of Catania, the Cesare Zipelli Foundation, the Banca Agricola Popolare di Ragusa and the collaboration of the EcoMuseo Carat, will open to the public on October 16th in the former Antonino Ancione factory, at the entrance of the Hyblean capital.
