Class 1987, Nina Klein was born in Michigan and currently lives and works in California, Los Angeles. She is an artist able to use a wide variety of tools to give life to her minimalist creations. Her illustrations, sculptures and abstract paintings represent the voice of the artistic inequality – as well as social – that still persists between women and men. 

Her intent is not to oppose or resist to sex and male art, but to emphasize its equality when it is compared to a more feminine design. 

The aim, therefore, is to explore contemporary identity: Nina makes it possible through hints of lines and basic forms of which the reconstruction is left to the viewer. What completes the picture is our mind, as if it were an extension of the artist, that is able to give us the complete vision of the puzzle. If the artist suggests the guidelines, then our interpretation will join the dots. 

In each of her works, Nina uses no more than three colors. In most cases, her curved shapes include blue and nude palettes, giving the viewer the introspection needed to enter the work of art and interpret it. Each of these choices, including the constant music background during her creations – “The Devotion” by Beach House is an example -, conveys our perception.
