With clients such as Netflix, Moncler and National Geographic, published in The New Yorker, The New York Times and The Washington Post, illustrator Julia Dufossé is distinguished by her surrealist style inspired by the 1980s aesthetic. Her work ranges from static illustrations to 2D animation and creative direction, with each piece imbued with a nostalgia for the retro airbrush aesthetic. In her illustrations, familiar scenes are transformed into dreamlike sceneries, as if from dreams or ramblings. Everyday objects take on new life, floating in space or taking on exaggerated and bizarre shapes.

The retro influence is her trademark. Julia Dufossé uses soft lighting, shiny surfaces and exaggerated shadows to create an unreal, fantastic world that verges on the absurd. As for the creative process, we know that Julia creates her work using an iPad Pro and Procreate for sketching, before transferring her work to Photoshop for airbrushing and finishing.
