For many years in Germany, in North Rhine-Westphalia, the railway line passed through Wuppertal, a city of just over 350,000 inhabitants. When the railway route was diverted, this line was rebuilt as a cycle path, but something was still missing. It was for this reason that the street artist Megx, Martin Heuwold’s stage name, was called and asked to give new life to a bridge with a slightly disused and decadent air. 

The artist, inspired by his daughters and their love for LEGO buildings, asked permission from the LEGO Group to create a mural that reproduced the colored bricks, so as to make the bridge look like it was made of them. This is how the Lego-Brücke was born, which since 2012 has brought a breath of fresh air to all citizens of Wuppertal and has won Megx the Deutscher Fassadenpreis Advancement Prize. 

 Ah, don’t worry, you can pass over it and under it without any problems, the bricks will not come off.
