LEGO’s wooden furniture collection

Giulia Guido

When Danish carpenter Ole Kirk Christiansen started making wooden toys he never thought his idea would become one of the most profitable companies in the world and, according to a recent study by the Moscow School of Economics, one of the safest investments.
In 1934 Ole Kirk Christiansen chose the word LEGO as the name for his modular toys and now the Danish company has decided to go back to basics by renewing its collaboration with product design company Room Copenhagen

LEGO and Room Copenhagen have been collaborating for years, bringing out collections of products made from recycled plastic. This time, however, they have decided to take a step backwards, presenting an entire line of furniture made of wood

The collection consists of desk drawers in two different sizes, shelves, picture frames and coat racks to hang on the wall. Each piece is made of certified red oak, available in different shades and designed to scale with the proportions of the original bricks.

LEGO and Room Copenhagen’s collection is certainly a perfect fit for lovers of the famous building blocks, but thanks to its minimalist design and clean lines, it is capable of making even the most sceptical fall in love with it.
