The landscape of Los Angeles, with its hills covered with villas, the attention to light, reminiscent of Dutch and Flemish painters, and a style and study of places that winks at artists like Hopper. All this blends into a play of light, shadow, and color in Seth Armstrong‘s paintings.
Born in 1983, Seth Armstrong was born in Los Angeles city that allows him to approach the world of art. He then decided to hone his skills first in Holland and then in the Bay Area, where he graduated from the California College of Arts in San Francisco. Thanks to his studies he got to know the Dutch and Flemish art of painters like Vermeer and was fascinated by the use of light, not realistic but expressive. The lights and shadows serve to create a specific atmosphere and to capture the viewer’s attention.

Back in Los Angeles, where he now lives and works, he began to devote himself completely to his art which, in addition to receiving good critical acclaim, was appreciated by artists such as Jay-Z and Nicki Minaj for whom he created some animations and his oil paintings began to be exhibited in various galleries between the United States and Europe.
Among his best-known works are the paintings depicting the LA hills where, among the green gardens and palm trees, houses and villas of all colors emerge, constantly illuminated by the sun. Admiring the works of Seth Armstrong you will almost feel as if you are in the City of Angels and take a walk at sunset.
