The Louis Vuitton Flagship Store in Osaka

The brand new Louis Vuitton Flagship Store in Osaka looks literally ready to go out to sea.

Inspired by the higaki kaisen, the traditional Japanese cargo ships that in ancient times transported the marches from Osaka to Tokyo, the brand new store of the French Maison, which will open its doors on February 1st, simulates the entire appearance of a ship, both thanks to the interior designed by Peter Marino and the facade designed by Jun Aoki

Although we are accustomed to the beauty and originality of the buildings that house Louis Vuitton stores, such as the one in Seoul designed by Frank Gehry, every time a new one is presented, we are only slightly surprised.
As already mentioned, the façade designed by architect Jun Aoki has a white structure at the top that simulates the sails of a ship and at the bottom, the one that rests on the ground, a perforated metal wall that recalls the reflections on the surface of the sea.

Inside, too, to take up the theme of the ship, the American interior designer Peter Marino has opted for wood, both for the floors and most of the furnishings and covers. These contemporary design elements create an original contrast with decorative elements that are reminiscent of Japanese tradition, such as origami and paper. In addition, the spaces of the Flagship Store in Osaka will host twenty works of contemporary art selected by Marino himself.

In addition to the exhibition part, great importance has been given to the part dedicated to relaxation and refreshment. Customers will, in fact, be able to spend time in the first restaurant bar signed Louis Vuitton located on the top floor and also developed on a terrace, but also in the Sugalabo with an open kitchen.
