We met Lucia Calfapietra at the Ripido Illustration Festival in Brunico. Starting tomorrow July, the town will host many Italian and international creative artists for almost two months – until 31 August – with exhibitions spread across the territory. It was the illustrator Lucia Calfapietra who particularly struck us. Perhaps because her illustrations make us want to be on holiday already, or perhaps because her colourful and photographic style speaks of us, of our happy moments in slow life style. The best stories are born in the kitchen

Lucia Calfapietra is an Italian illustrator based in Marseille. Known for her summery and lively illustrations, her inspiration comes from the children’s books of yesteryear. Her works play with texture, using sharp shadows and bright, almost fluorescent colours. His digital style recreates the effect of handmade works, with images reminiscent of collages and prints from days gone by. Her works, steeped in imagination and irony, often draw inspiration from the kitchen, a place where, according to Lucia, ‘the best stories are born‘.

The exhibition Visions welcomes ten authors with ten works each for a total of one hundred plates. They are Lucia Calfapietra, Nicolò Canova, Isabella Conti, Cinzia Franceschini, Lorenzo Gritti, Maniaco D’Amore, Marco Marella, Yoshi Mari, Gianni Puri and Shut Up Claudia, who give life to a path that speaks of different visions, all illustrated and to be discovered.
