Chaos, disorder, neglect, anxiety, fear, Mariano Pascual‘s illustrations exude all this. The Argentinean illustrator based in Barcelona, forced at home like the rest of us, has decided to create a series of illustrations entitled Lockdown to tell his quarantine.
What distinguishes Mariano Pascual’s work from that of other artists is that in addition to representing the concrete effects of being locked at home, such as the accumulation of objects, the disorder in the kitchen, the stacks of toilet paper he has stocked up on, Mariano goes deeper, trying to give shape to the feelings and thoughts that accompany him during these very long days.

The illustrator, who has always been used to moving in the field of abstractionism and the surreal, has slightly modified his style for this project, adopting a more figurative and representative one.
Thus, creating a dialogue between everyday objects, the rooms of the house and the projection of his thoughts, Mariano Pascual tells his personal lockdown that is surprisingly similar to that of all of us.
Scrolling through his illustrations and analyzing all the small details, you will notice how his fears are also ours, how the bars on the window actually exist only in our minds. The scenario that the artist recounts is not one of the happiest, Mariano Pascual wants to emphasize the fact that although our body is forced into the house, our mind is still free to travel.
