The Men’s Milan Fashion Week has just concluded. What happened and what were the most iconic moments of this week of men’s fashion? SS24 brought some surprises and viral moments to discover. From Valentino, finally returning to showcase in Milan, to Prada with Fluid Form, which went viral for the cascade of slime and an unconventional invitation. But not only that, Federico Cina and Magliano – two no longer emerging designers – also stood out in their respective fields of interest.

#1 The Narratives by Valentino brings MFW to Milan’s Statale University

Valentino draws inspiration from Henya Yanagihara’s A Little Life for this fashion show characterized by thoughtful tailoring. It took place in the Renaissance courtyard of Ca’ Granda, now animated by the students of the Statale University of Milan. Pierpaolo Piccioli focuses on contemporary masculine values such as fragility and the perfection of imperfection, challenging conventions and breaking the rules.

#2 Federico Cina’s Performance and Emilia Romagna

Federico Cina‘s fashion show begins on a dirt carpet, featuring a model covered in mud, holding a stack of empty boxes in his arms. This all connects to the situation in his home region, Emilia Romagna, whose agricultural fields were devastated by a flood. With burlap sacks, knitwear sweaters, and performances, Cina’s show immediately becomes one of the most special moments of the Men’s Milan Fashion Week.

#3 The Arrival at Pala Magliano

Just a few days after winning the LVMH Prize 2023, Luca Magliano presents his SS24 collection at Milan Fashion Week, transforming Milan’s Palazzo del Ghiaccio into Pala Magliano, wrapped in white sheets resembling construction site coverings. The collection challenges the conventions of men’s fashion with workwear jumpsuits, draped garments with trains, tailored suits, and windbreakers.

#4 Prada’s Drip

Prada’s fashion show is called Fluid Form and it starts with a provocative invitation that came with a mysterious object, resembling a headband to wear. But the surprises didn’t end there. The set of the show also included a cascade of slime that didn’t go unnoticed on social media. Among eco-fur jackets, floral elements, and oversized pouches, all the elements of the collection harmonize perfectly with the title chosen by the duo of Miuccia and Raf Simons.
