For some time now, we’ve been keeping an eye on the Instagram profile of @muddycap, an account with over 150K followers obsessed with chairs. Once a week, a new chair appears on the page, often featuring colorful and amusing designs. We wondered, do these chairs actually exist? The answer is no. Muddy creates the chairs digitally, even conceiving renders that closely resemble reality. @muddycap’s project is extremely conceptual. The artist explores the chair as an object with a function, but above all, with an aesthetic, giving life to infinite variations. A contemporary and quirky imagination that has captured the audience’s attention over the years. Muddy is certainly not the only one sharing renders of their ideas on social media, but probably stands out for the attention and care dedicated to details. These chairs are potentially feasible, «while the chairs are made in 3D, many of their points are based on reality to some extent“, explains Muddy in an interview with Hypebeast, «I try to express the elements that should be considered in the actual production process, such as proportions, materials and mechanisms». From what we gather online, many have asked Muddy if the chairs could be actually made, but as far as we know, it hasn’t happened yet.
