mynameisnotSEM and his street art
mynameisnotSEM is a Portuguese artist who, in his colourful and abstract murals, manages to fuse the essence of his country.
Born in 1989, mynameisnotSEM is an artist and street artist who, since he was a child, has shown great interest in urban art. While attending art and design schools, graduating in Communication and Multimedia Design at ESAP and studying Fine Arts, he approached the world of graffiti. It is precisely when street art becomes a major part of his life that he adopts the stage name mynameisnotSEM.
In his murals, the artist manages to merge and bring together two aspects that are part of his life and that represents his country of origin and his city, Porto. The first element is the factories of Matosinhos, a municipality in the district of Porto and located north of the city, overlooking the ocean. The second element that relives in his works are the famous azulejos, the colored tiles that are found in virtually every corner of the city, from furniture to the facades of buildings.
In a modern and original way, these two aspects echo in the colorful and geometric shapes of its walls.
