Tucked away among the rocky bays of the Cyclades islands, nCAVED is the latest spectacular project by architecture firm Mold Architects.
A private home after each of us would like to spend our vacations in the sea of Greece between the beautiful pool of the house and the crystal clear sea of the island.

The goal was to “disguise” the house, in fact even seeing the photos it is as if the structure was one with the surrounding landscape. The house seems to hover just above the sea, immersed in a unique landscape.

The work focuses on the juxtaposition of traditional concepts and modern architecture, interweaving expressions of the island’s cultural heritage with a modern vocabulary, in step with the times.

However, the studio’s architects had to follow strict rules for the construction, which is also why it is set into the cliffs and rocky bays typical of the island. Even the materials chosen are not random, the house is made of stone and iron, combined with pressed cement mortar floors that give the house an earthy color.

The house was designed as a composite “terrace” on a steep slope. The drywall here becomes a tool capable of defining enclosed spaces, shaping courtyards and protecting and sheltering from the north winds, thus creating a complex of indoor and outdoor spaces in sequence with the natural flow of the slope.

“nCAVED” is an innovative project, in step with the times, for this reason, the energy consumption of the building is extremely low, in fact, in addition to using renewable energy, the house is equipped with a system of collecting wastewater and rainwater for irrigation. In addition, edible plants grow on the roofs.
