Catalin Gellen, a self-taught Spanish artist based in Madrid, creates black and white works with eroticism as their main theme. His story arouses irony since at the beginning of his career he was involved in religious illustrations that, later, were transformed into works that celebrate eros with elegance and style.

Through a careful study of light, Catalin extrapolates the essential lines necessary to bring out a scene made up of a few simple effective traits, which immortalize acts related to eros and the love sphere: the result is a minimal style, without frills, that enhances the bodies with refinement.

The black lines become essential parts of a story, allusive, explicit, but never vulgar. Follow Catalin on his Istagram profile, which you will find here.

The Dark Knight returns to the cinema for 80 years of Batman

The Dark Knight returns to the cinema for 80 years of Batman

Claudia Fuggetti · 1 year ago · Art

On the occasion of Batman’s 80th anniversary, Warner Bros has announced that the trilogy The Dark Knight by Christopher Nolan, will return on the big screen in IMAX 70mm format.

The movies will be projected at CityWalk Hollywood’s Universal Cinema AMC, where Nolan will participate in a Q&A with the audience; other locations will be New York’s AMC Lincoln Square, San Francisco’s AMC Metreon, Toronto’s Cinesphere Ontario Place and the Indiana State Museum’s IMAX Theatre in Indianapolis.

Nolan’s trilogy is often mentioned as one of the reasons why superhero movies have become in-demand film products. To reinforce this, we remember that until 2018 Aquaman, The Dark Knight of 2008 and The Dark Knight – The Return of 2012 were the two films with the highest grossing of DC.

BLACK & LIGHT, Oscar Oiwa’s visionary project

BLACK & LIGHT, Oscar Oiwa’s visionary project

Claudia Fuggetti · 1 year ago · Art

Japanese-Brazilian artist Oscar Oiwa, whom we had the pleasure of talking about earlier here, has created an ambitious project in collaboration with Visionaire, called BLACK & LIGHT. The work is an immersive black and white wall placed inside an inflatable dome, which has a surface area of over 2,700 square meters and was placed next to the Cadillac House in New York City.

The visionary project presents surreal landscapes and otherworldly characters such as Light Rabbit and Shadow Cat. An interesting aspect of his work is that the entire artistic act was transmitted live-streaming outside the structure so that the public could see it.

You can explore the space until March 30.

EVREKA, PichiAvo’s exhibition in Valencia

EVREKA, PichiAvo’s exhibition in Valencia

Claudia Fuggetti · 1 year ago · Art

EVREKA is the name of the solo exhibition of the duo of artists PichiAvo at the Centro del Carmen in Valencia. The event celebrates the Urbanmythology style, a fusion of the world of graffiti and imagery that refers to the ancient icons of Greek and Roman culture.

In the middle of one of the main room there is an enormous Greek pillar “sliced”, which acts as a watershed to the sides adorned with ten new paintings. The exhibition includes nine sculptures and an outdoor monument celebrating the street world. The highlight of the event, however, is the “Reflectory room”, a room where the works are perceived by the viewer through a mirror.

The sculptural pieces are majestic, imposing, colourful and destabilising: the sculpted column is about 40 feet long and was inspired by the temple of Zeus in Athens.

It would be possibile visit EVREKA until May 5th.
