The Internet is full of hoaxes, jokes and falsehoods, it is impossible to deny it. As we surf the web every day, we are inundated with fabricated, incomplete, or deliberately misleading news. What can be done to distinguish reality from invention?
This is also what we ask ourselves after discovering the fake creations of Obvious Plant.
Obvious Plant is a project created by Jeff Wysaski in 2015, it is a wacky reality parody invention that uses toys to make fun of everyday life.
That this is a big joke is obvious, even the name says so, but to the less observant eye, it might look like reality. These creations are so detailed, precise and realistic that it takes very little to confuse you.
Born out of glee over five years ago, Obvious Plant brings together all of Jeff Wysaski’s creations from around the world: fake children’s toys, reinterpretations of self-help books and DVDs, fake flyers and deceptive posters.
Finding one by mistake might upset the little ones, as the phrases that enrich each object are not for all ages: “Everyone dies”, “Get the fuck away from me”, “I hate you this much, you suck”, “Your parents are doing sex”.
One thing is for sure though, Obvious Plant’s inventions are not meant to fool anyone, what they are meant to do is blend quietly into the background and give small doses of levity to any adult lucky enough to find one on their way.
We have selected the most extravagant toys for you here, but to can see them all visiting the official profile on Instagram.
