Pat Perry is a Michigan-born artist who lives in Detroit, but who is constantly on the move to create his works. His last effort, entitled Opening Lines, is a double mural that aims to create a connection, not only figurative but also concrete and the human between an American school in Maine and one in Iraqi Kurdistan.
The first part of the mural, in the United States, depicts a boy seen from behind holding a telephone handset to his ear. The young boy is looking over to a wire mesh that has been cut.
On the other side of the wire is a little girl, on the wall of the Iraqi school, always with her back to her side and also facing a holed net.
Opening Lines represents the strength and simplicity of the art of breaking down walls built by society and, instead of them, building bridges that unite the adults of tomorrow.
Below you will also find the video of the realization of the mural!
