With Parisians invited to leave the city over the weekend, the French capital is ready to kick off the Olympic Games. After months of open-air construction sites in the city centre, which created quite a few inconveniences for citizens and tourists alike – including bridges, metro stops and closed squares – Paris is returning to host the event after exactly one hundred years. What we expect from these Olympics is a lot. The sets shown in the renders are bordering on the incredible, between beach volleyball in front of the Eiffel Tower and equestrian sports at the Palace of Versailles, one of the greatest follies was to make the Seine swim. In short, Paris has literally gone mad with preparations. Even the AI arist @ifonly.ai commented ironically on this feat with his works imagining the city as a playground and, even more, as a Caribbean beach.
