Feng Jiang is a Chinese multidisciplinary artist and photographer born in Chengdu and raised in Montréal, Canada. His art is deeply influenced by memory, his experience of immigration and the relationship between the two different societies and cultures he has known.
Piscine is the title of one of his most recent photographic projects. It stems from the need to narrate Asian queer identity and explores the relationship that exists between the individual, the environment and storytelling.
Feng Jiang creates ambiguous narratives that balance aesthetics and testimony. His dual identity as a Chinese-Canadian leads him to wrestle between different instincts, to bring together the norms, customs and traditions of distant places and lands. In Piscine, Feng combines portraits and experiences of people with different histories and does so to normalise queer identity, which is underrepresented in the common Chinese narrative.

His project is interesting because with the strength of the images and the power of the symbols it is transformed into a diary story detached from his usual productions and focused on more personal needs.
