Porsche Wraps Up the Year with a Hand-Drawn Animation

At a time when advertising animation seems increasingly flattened into AI-generated aesthetics, Porsche chooses a different path. This is how Porsche Holiday comes to life, created by Parallel Studio and born from hand-drawn sketches. No artificial intelligence was used. A detail that today almost feels surprising, and yet becomes the very core of the project.

The film follows a 1963 Porsche as it travels through time, transforming alongside the eras it passes through. Each frame is built with an almost obsessive level of care, as explained here, resulting in a tactile quality that is immediately perceptible. Parallel Studio also shared behind-the-scenes materials, revealing a process made up of drawings, construction, refinements, and constant revisions, reaffirming the handcrafted nature of the project.

This stance carries even more weight within the current context. In recent months, several commercials generated or assisted by artificial intelligence — such as those by Coca-Cola and McDonald’s — have sparked widespread debate, often leaving behind a cold and distant feeling. By contrast, a recent viral campaign by the French supermarket chain Intermarché has shown how audiences continue to recognize and appreciate the value of human work.

Within this landscape, Porsche Holiday feels less like a nostalgic gesture and more like a clear-sighted, countercultural choice. It is not merely a stylistic exercise, but a message addressed to the creative community: value still lies in the process, in time spent, in controlled imperfection. Not by chance, the project is explicitly dedicated to the community, almost as if it were a manifesto rather than a simple campaign.
