Stranger Things releases a commercial with Coca-Cola
Stranger Things and Coca-Cola launch a remake of the Duffer brothers' 1985 New Coke commercial. Who knows what will happen next season?
It was already announced around may that Netflix and Coca-Cola would join forces. Here we go. The duo has just published the video of the remake of the “New Coke” exclusively for the TV series Stranger Things, which next season will take place in 1985, the year in which Coca-Cola launched the drink, which did not fit well to customers and was withdrawn only 79 days later.
At the beginning of the announcement you see a Steve intent on buying Coca-Cola and popcorn, he has an appointment. As soon as he enters the room he sits down next to a girl, but it turns out that, in fact, his appointment is Dustin. The latter begins to complain about the delay, thus hindering Steve’s attempts to try with the girl. They argue about the right way to eat popcorn and eventually agree, take a sip of New Coke and…The film begins, the Coca-Cola logo in red neon is turned upside down as it flashes. The video is a remake of the original 1985 New Coke commercial, directed by the Duffer brothers.
Around 500,000 cans of New Coke will be made available to the public and interested customers will be able to purchase the article on cokestore.com/1985. Limited edition bottles with Stranger Things designs will also be up for grabs.
The Ad has spoiled us veiled that the friendship between Steve and Dustin is growing. Stranger Things 3 will be back on your personal displays on July 4th. We’re looking forward to it.
