More and more frequently we see how architecture seeks to redevelop public spaces allowing citizens to experience them in a different way. This is the purpose of Floating Pavilion Ø, a project by Studio Pan Projects involving the construction of several pavilions intended to float on the water of Copenhagen’s canals. 
For the moment only the first one has been built, Teahouse Ø, which looks like a small, covered, crumbling platform. 

The structure of Teahouse Ø has a roof and a base made of wood covered with polystyrene and entirely covered with plastic, joined by a series of transparent acrylic tubes which create a see-through effect and remind us of flowing water. 

As can be guessed from the name, – Ø in Danish means “island” – the pavilion is designed to float permanently in the canal and the implementation of a motor also allows it to move or return to the banks. 

In addition, the Ø Teahouse is designed for different activities, once you have taken a seat inside you can relax, do yoga, but it has also served as a stage for concerts. 

Its structure, which reflects the sunlight and the shades of water, offers a sensational spectacle both for those who use it and for those who watch it from afar. 

The whole Floating Pavilion Ø project included the construction of other pavilions which was temporarily stopped by the pandemic. We hope to see many more soon.
