The series of images Ten Loaves for a Bungalow Conversion, made by the British photographer Will Hooper, is characterized by a strong cinematographic imprint. Each image seems to have been captured in a completely spontaneous and casual way, however, the scenes were originally part of a rehearsal set for a film that Hooper intended to make.
After seeing the first images, the artist radically changed his mind and decided to produce a series of images that focus on the beauty of everyday life. The result is a tragi-comic project that intrigues and confuses the viewer.
The irony is typical of much of Hooper’s work, which tends to plumb the recesses of the human psyche: the seemingly illogical becomes a poetic tale.
