There are so many projects that this year have left us literally breathless, from hotels to mini houses, up to projects that challenge all the laws of nature. Discover the best of 2019 according to Collater.al.

Under, the first underwater restaurant in the world

At the top of our ranking we could not help but put Under, which is the largest underwater restaurant in the world. The restaurant offers a unique experience: the entrance is located on the cliff, while the dining room is located a few meters below, literally immersed in the sea. Are you beginning to dream of a dinner with a view of the seabed?

Zhongshuge, the most beautiful bookstore in the world

You don’t have to be a book and literature lover to love the Zhongshuge, the surreal-looking bookshop created by X+Living studio. In fact, the interiors almost entirely covered with mirrors are reminiscent of Escher’s paintings, with infinite scales and without depth.

Architect Hayri Atak has designed a hotel suspended in the void

Among the projects that have left us really breathless is that of architect Hayri Atak who dreamt of a boutique hotel with a swimming pool literally suspended in the void built on the side of Pulpit Rock, a granite cliff just over 600 meters high that ends overhanging the Norwegian fjord Lysefjord.

Infinity London, the world’s first swimming pool with a 360° view

Many have spoken of this project. The Infinity London will be the first swimming pool with a 360° view of the whole city. Basically, imagine the top of a hollow skyscraper, covered by a pool made entirely of cast acrylic containing 600,000 liters of water.

The Twist, the inhabitable bridge that twists around itself

Inspired by the conformation of the territory of the Kistefos Sculpture Park and the river that crosses it, the BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group architecture studio has designed The Twist, an inhabitable bridge that, in the central part, twists around itself by 180°.

Smart Forest City, Stefano Boeri’s project

Stefano Boeri presented the project for what will be the city of the future. It is called Smart Forest City, designed for the Mexican city of Cancun and will be the first Forest City of the new millennium, an “open city” and international-inspired by the values of technological innovation and environmental quality.

The waterfall of Singapore’s Jewel Changi airport

This year a majestic seven surfaces waterfall has become the symbol of Singapore’s Jewel Changi Airport. The “Rain Vortex” was designed by Safdie Architects and is powered by collected rainwater, which flows in the middle of a greenhouse surmounted by an inverted glass dome.

Seminole Hard Rock, the first hotel in the shape of a guitar

The Hard Rock chain has just opened its latest hotel and resort: the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood which is located in South Florida, in Hollywood, the homonymous location to the Californian one.
The special feature of this hotel is the shape of the guitar, which is a symbol and distinctive sign of the chain.

Rat Island, eco-resort by Jendretzki Design in New York

This year a majestic seven-story waterfall has become the symbol of Singapore’s Jewel Changi Airport. The “Rain Vortex” was designed by Safdie Architects and is powered by collected rainwater, which flows in the middle of a greenhouse surmounted by an inverted glass dome.

Top Tower, in Prague a skyscraper incorporates the skeleton of a ship

The sculptor David Černý and the architect Tomáš Císař of the Black n’ Arch studio have made public the project of the Top Tower, a building that would reach 135 meters in height and that should be built in Prague. This skyscraper differs from other skyscrapers because it would include a skeleton of a tanker in its structure.
