In celebration of the UAE’s 49th National Day, which falls on December 2, Abu Dhabi hosted The Seed, a unique work of art created by Es Devlin

Es Devlin is a British artist and designer best known for her performative sculptures: large-scale works that blend music, images and light. Her creations are known worldwide, exhibited in museums, such as the Memory Palace exhibition two years ago in London, but also made for major international events, such as the UK Pavilion for Expo 2020.

For the celebrations of December 2, the artist has created what has been called a kinetic sculpture, placed inside the Jubail Mangrove Park in Abu Dhabi

The work takes the form of a huge cube that comes to life thanks to the play of lights, fireworks and various projections that tell and celebrate the history of the state.

In addition to Es Devlin’s magnificent job, the artwork is also the brainchild of creative designers Kholoud Sharafi and Noura El Neyadi, designer Sharafi and photographer El Neyadi.

Although only the country’s political leaders attended the opening of The Seed, the installation has come to life every night since December 2 and will be visible until the end of January with prior booking.

Don’t miss the video below to witness the beautiful light show and projections of Es Devlin’s work.
