It was 2009 when the Italian-American designer Gianluca Gimini asked his friends, family or strangers to draw by heart, without control, a man’s bicycle.
Everyone, convinced that they could not make mistakes, began to create sketches that had nothing to do with a real bicycle.
One piece was missing, there was one more, one could not work, some was similar, one or two were the same as the real ones.
In a few years he began collecting hundreds of designs and models of bicycles, many more than a true inventor could have created in his whole life.
Velocipedia, this is the name of his project, has reached a turning point in 2016, the year in which Gimini himself joined it, beginning to create some of the bicycles previously designed by his friends.
From the unlikely forms and the limited possibility of a real functioning, Velocipedia tells with irony how, if stimulated, we are all able to invent something.
In one way or another.
