In the Line’ illustrations series, the Parisian illustrator Aurore de La Morinerie draws lonely figures with the same simplicity with which she chose the name of her project.
The ink on paper works hints at their subject’s shape, evoking the fleeting moment in which the artist has captured what she sees.
The rapid execution, a characteristic element of her work, is due to the study of calligraphy and Chinese painting, which led La Morinierie to refuse the search for a narrative sense in order to concentrate on the pure expression of form.
Line captures the poetic essence of the subjects and conveys a delicate but iconic sense of their being.
