Windows are a boundary place. They separate the outside from the inside, the private from the public, giving us, however, the feeling that they can be overcome. As long as the light of a house or office is on, and the window is not set too high, we can spy on those who cannot see us and, for a second, be spectators of the lives of others.
Maybe that’s why they attract so many people, that we walk around the city staring and looking at them.

Solenne Bague, on Instagram as @comme.la.ville, is an illustrator and designer from Nice and among the recurring subjects in her work are precisely the windows.
With a simple and essential style, Solenne proposes different types of windows, more or less large, overlooking small balconies, or with closed shutters. Their beauty and small details, such as a bouquet of flowers or a vase resting on the windowsill, are brought out by the colors and the choice to completely isolate the subject. For each illustration a window, the rest is left to colorful backgrounds.
