Do Ho Suh esplora il rapporto tra spazio e individuo riproducendo a grandezza naturale gli scheletri trasparenti delle tante case in cui ha vissuto.

L’artista coreano Do Ho Suh ha sempre vissuto una vita itinerante, costretto a continui trasferimenti, e le sue opere riproducono in scala 1:1 gli scheletri delle case in cui ha vissuto, realizzati interamente con materiali e tessuti semitrasparenti.

Combinando così gli spazi interni della sua anima e dei suoi ricordi con quelli esterni, tenta di rappresentare simbolicamente la sensazione di non appartenere mai realmente a un luogo, perché già proiettato a una nuova partenza.

Il suo lavoro più noto è l’installazione Home Within Home, ospitata dal National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art di Seul, che replica a grandezza naturale la casa paterna in cui è cresciuto. L’opera riproduce fedelmente anche gli interni dell’abitazione, contenendo scale e oggetti di uso quotidiano come lampade, gabinetti e frigoriferi.
