The latest project curated by photographer Lotte van Raalte, entitled BODY, is a real ode to the female body. 

Even during her studies at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague, Lotte has always tried to describe a real world, far from the ideal of perfection that dominates the world of social networks and to which many aspire without success. This spasmodic search for reality has led her to focus particularly on the female body. Lotte van Raalte herself justifies this fascination in three ways: the fact that women are dominantly sexualized and unrealistically portrayed in the fashion, movie and music industry. The fact that the female body is the carrier of new life, and the tremendous impact that has. And, last but not least, the fact that I’m a woman myself.

This journey into an all-female world has taken her, for over 16 months, to photograph the bodies of 46 women, some young and some not, in their most natural form, without veils and, above all, without prejudice. 

This is how BODY was born, a book that presents the woman’s body in a new way, or rather, it proposes images of real women, which paradoxically are those to which society and the media do not accustom us, but rather conceal us. The more we look at BODY’s photographs, the more we realize that true beauty is enclosed in stretch marks, spots, wrinkles, signs that distinguish one body from another, making them all unique in their own way.
