Imagine a house where each window has a different view of a blue expanse.
Imagine opening them all wide, looking out and feeling the scent and breeze coming from the sea directly into your bedroom.
Casa Naila, the holiday home designed by the Mexican studio BAAQ in Puertecito, on the coast of Oaxaca and 20km from the more famous Puerto Escondido, is a daydream realized just to allow its visitors to look at the sea from every room.
Casa Naila, which takes its name from a traditional song, is built with rural materials that respect nature and the surrounding landscape, despite the large size of the structure which is around 740sqm.
The house is divided into 4 different blocks, all on two floors, which are located on the edge of a cross-shaped patio, designed to be used as an open-air room.
“The angle and separation of the volumes allow for ocean views from any room and, while simple, the scheme achieves a formal integration between rock and beach landscape.” explained BAAQ co-founder Alfonso Quiñones.
The outdoor area, which borders the beach, also includes gardens and a beautiful swimming pool overlooking the surrounding landscape.
“In the end, the result is a space that accomplishes one of the noblest purposes of architecture: to experience a bond between the inhabitant and the site, about which we feel very satisfied.”
