As done last month, also for December, we shall hereby repeat our selection of the Netflix catalog 5 most anticipated releases.
Roma: is perhaps the most anticipated film of the month, but in general certainly of the year, surely thanks to the Golden Lion triumph at the 71st edition of the Venice festival. Alfonso Cuaron’s movie describes the life of a middle-class Mexican family but, more precisely, reports a nascent society in which wealth and poverty coexist in a symbiotic relationship, all endowed by a agonizing humanity. To strengthen Rome’s visual power the Mexican director uses a nostalgic black and white photography, as you can see from the trailer herebelow. The film, a great Netflix success, is the first entertainment giant’s movie having earned the Golden Lion award to be partially distributed in cinemas worldwide, it will be released in streaming on December 3.
Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle: the entirely Netflix produced movie based on the famous “The Jungle Book” is relayed as an amazing visual power product both for adults and children. I think we don’t need to spend many words on the plot: a boy grows in the forest bred by wolves. When humans threaten the jungle’s survival Mogwli will do all in his power to save his beloved animal friends. The film is directed by actor and director Andy Serkis, the protagonist is played by Rohan Chand, while the voices of the animals will be lent by the likes of Christian Bale, Benedict Cumberbatch and Cate Blanchet. Mogwli will be released on the digital platform on December 7th.
Dogs Of Berlin: is, after Dark, the second American platform’s German series having an extremely original content. The story unfolds around a famous football player’s murder on the eve of a ‘very important’ international match. It will be up to the two policemen in charge (interpreted by Fahri Yardim and Felix Kramer) to solve the mystery. They will investigate in full the Berlin underground life, from the Mafia to neo-nazi groups. The series, which immediately picked up very positive reviews, will land in Italy on the 7th of December.
Springsteen on Broadway: The famous star striped singer is shown in a live performance like never before. We can see from our home’s comfort thanks to Netflix. In this special, edited by Thom Zimny, a long-time Springsteen partner, two of his last concerts are jointly packaged to transport us in a spiral of intimate emotions, especially for the Boss’s most avid fans. This musical special will be released on December 15th, a date which also marks the end of Springsteen’s replicas at the Walter Kerr Theater in New York. So Springstinists from all over the world, enjoy, the wait is short.
Parfum: the third German production is nothing more than a modern adaptation, obviously with some differences, of the homonymous novel by Patrick Suskind that in a few years has become a true Bestseller. The story is about a young man from the suburbs of Paris who, with a superhuman sense of smell, becomes the world’s most talented parfumist. Such privilege will however have a high price to pay. The story immersed in darkness, death, beauty and charm, has previously scored in a film, Perfume – Story of a murderer, but this time, as the trailer can already show, the story has been strongly reinterpreted to make it a definitely unique product with a very high potential. So we just have to wait for December 21st.
