Nick Prideaux, delicate and dreamy photographs

Nick Prideaux, delicate and dreamy photographs

Collater.al Contributors · 1 month ago · Photography

Nick Prideaux is an Australian photographer based in Paris. On Collater.al we talked about his work two years ago, when he was still living in Bangkok, today we tell you the development of his art.

Nick’s is a sharp and essential analog photography that rejects the superfluous. His work is based on subtraction, focusing on the beauty of small things, capturing the present and looking towards the everyday.

His photographs are permeated with a delicate and dreamy atmosphere and tell fleeting and ephemeral moments. Each shot is brightened by the warm light of the morning: intense rays, gentle reflections, colorful glow.
The art of Nick Prideaux is a fragile and nostalgic tale of the beauty of everyday life.

My approach to photography is guided by my intuition, rather than preconception. The camera gives me a way of looking at every day in a more conscious light and a way of surfacing thoughts and feelings that are otherwise difficult to access and express.”

Nick Prideaux works with clients from all over the world: this year he worked with Amalthea, a Parisian organic cosmetics brand, Bastille, a French perfume line and Tres, a Japanese lingerie brand.

The melancholic photography by Elisa Flicka

The melancholic photography by Elisa Flicka

Giulia Guido · 1 month ago · Photography

It’s that time of year when the days start to get longer, the sun on your skin starts to warm up and sometimes your mind is already on the beach. Days when we like to dream while looking, for example, at Lavinia Cernau‘s or Arturo Bamboo‘s photographs taken in dreamy places overlooking the Mediterranean. But sometimes we need something different, something like Elisa Flicka‘s photographs.

Born in Albania, Elisa Flicka is a young photographer specialising in portraits and self-portraits. Often in her shots, we see her surrounded by nature, a large green meadow, a body of water, flowers or immersed in the sea.

What all her photographs have in common is a prevalence of cold tones that make the atmosphere melancholic. If memories of past summers had a colour palette, they would probably have the same one as in his shots.

If you take a closer look at her Instagram profile, which is followed by more than 130,000 followers, you will also notice another characteristic of her work. Elisa Flicka often adds short captions to her photographs that are reminiscent of film subtitles and turn the images into a story that is impossible not to identify with.

The human exploration in the photographs by Paulo Abreu

The human exploration in the photographs by Paulo Abreu

Federica Cimorelli · 4 weeks ago · Photography

Paulo Abreu is a Brazilian photographer and visual artist capable of creating unique and surreal atmospheres, generating questions in the viewer about the essence of human existence. In his work he uses mixed techniques and generates melancholic universes where figures are the undisputed protagonists of the scene.

In his art, Paulo deals with themes such as loneliness, suffering and anguish, and he does so through the narrative of the human figure. Like statues, his subjects stand in space, contemplating their surroundings and supporting each other with stateliness and fragility. They are solitary, solemn figures who share their pain and recognise it as part of the human experience.
