EK, AZULIK’s prototype electric car

AZULIK, always very eco-conscious, presents its first conceptual electric car prototype. It is called EK and its design follows very consistently the style of the brand, best known for its luxury hotel in Tulum. Its founder is artist Roth Azulik and his intention is to “connect people with nature, art, and ancestry.,” as it says on his Instagram bio. Following its typical trans-disciplinary and holistic wake, AZULIK – under the direction of Roth Architecture and involving designer Roth Fablab – officially launched its “car of the future” a few days ago.

Between craftsmanship and technology

The decidedly organic aesthetic winks at the architecture of Zaha Hadid, a perfect marriage of nature and technology. On the one hand a very careful ecological care, on the other a decidedly avant-garde design. The body is made of fiberglass, but natural details abound, such as the tropical wood steering wheel and other handmade ceramic details. Craftsmanship but also high technology. In fact, the entire control panel is made using the 3D printing technique, and the car is equipped with a digital display.

A counter-trend car

EK accommodates three passengers, a driver in the front and two other people in the back seats, covered with waterproof nautical fabric. Also useful is that the car has no doors, perhaps a detail that already looks at global warming, as ironically pointed out by many in comments on Instagram. In short, a car that looks to the future and goes against the trend. In fact, the car only travels at low speeds – 40 km/h to be precise -, much more like a golf cart and definitely not designed for road travel. AZULIK designs it primarily to be used by its hotel guests, to provide a unique experience in every way.
