What I love most about street photography is that it is always different. Even if two photographers lived in the same city and used the same camera, I am sure their shots would still be unique. This is because each person is drawn to different things. For example, Karim Fares is fascinated by bad weather—an element that many other photographers often do not appreciate.  

Karim Fares was born in Egypt and began taking photos in the streets of his home country, characterized by warm colors and strong natural light. Later, he decided to move to Oslo, Norway, where he was met with a completely different climate and lighting conditions. From the very beginning, he was captivated by the cold, the snow, the rain, and the darkness. He tells us himself: «the reflections on the wet pavement, the way the streetlights glow against the raindrops, the contrast of dark silhouettes against the white snow».

His shots are filled with people moving through the storm, umbrellas shielding them from the rain, and coats wrapped tightly to keep warm. And then there is the light—streetlights reflecting off the rain or snow, adding depth and atmosphere to every scene.
